Hello, I have the same type of engine, I have a problem with it, it runs normally as long as it is cold, after it warms up it stops starting. The injection pumps no longer send diesel to the injectors, We bought new injection pumps thinking they were broken, but even with the new ones the engine reacts the same way. I thought it was a cooling problem and I checked if the fans are blowing air to cool and they seem to be working normally as well. The engine is 95% sealed, it still loses a little air on some gaskets, but not so much that you can say that this would be the wave of causes. It would help us a lot if you could direct us to something, we don't know what else to check to fix the problem. Thank you!

I worked at GM when this engine was developed. We called it The Fuel Pincher. I only ran them on engine dynos, so no real world experience but they really performed well on the tests I ran on them. Never a hickup. ben/ michigan

You can tell its a IL4C. Sounds like a Detroit Diesel series 50, just quieter. Also smaller.

A good operator never drops his blade and catches it . Canfracture quick drop valve and metal will go rhru system very expensive. Learnt from experience.

Just found your channel amazing stuff Considering a small 3 or 4 cylinder out of maybe a bad genset to put in my 1937 GMC T16 1.5 ton the overall with fan cannot be longer than 36 inches 36 from fan to Bell housing Original engine was a Oldsmobile 230 Flathead Any suggestions and anything GM would make it even more unique of a restoration but I'm open to suggestions since a diesel 1937 would be just the coolest

Also does this have a radiator overflow tank? I see the tube is running from the top of radiator and down the side, is that supposed to connect to an overflow tank?
